What are some of the most common dashboard warning lights on your vehicle? Here's a sampling:
- If you have an oil can image flash on the dash, that means there's an issue with the oil pressure. You're either running low on oil and need a change, or your oil pump isn't circulating the fluids properly and should be addressed as soon as possible.
- A tire pressure warning light comes on and it's the one with the exclamation point with tire treads on it. This means you have tire pressure that's either too low or too high. It's an easy fix as you can go to a place where you get air and adjust it to the right levels.
- If you have a thermometer with some wavy lines underneath, that is your engine temperature light and means your engine is overheating and likely needs coolant, which should be addressed immediately.
- If you see a light come on with a car and wavy lines behind it that means your vehicle's traction control is activated and is helping keep your wheels from spinning faster than another, which is a good thing!
- The check engine light can come on for any number of reasons, and it's important it's addressed right away. It can mean a serious issue like low oil pressure or overheating, but it also might appear if your gas cap is open or loose. If it's flashing stop driving immediately and get to a service center.
- The battery alert either means there's an issue with vehicle charging which might not necessarily mean it's your battery, but in most cases it is and you'll either need to get it checked or if your vehicle won't start, get a jump.
- If you see a windshield with what looks like two candy canes, that's supposed to be wiper fluid and it means your fluid is low. That's an easy fix as you can buy some washer fluid and fill it in your vehicle with ease.
