When a simple part of your Ford vehicle goes out – like an interior light, for example - it might be something as easy to fix as a blown fuse. If you can locate and change that fuse, you can resolve the problem in a matter of minutes. The steps are in the owner's manual in your glovebox and instructions can vary for different vehicles, but whether you live in Washington IN or French Lick, IN, here's how to replace a blown fuse in one Ford model.
Replacing a blown fuse in a Ford Explorer
The first step is to find the fuse panel. In a recent Ford Explorer, it's located just to the left of the steering wheel, and of course you'll be facing the front door on the driver's side. Pull the cover outward to open the panel. You should see a listing of fuses when you look at the fuse box inside panel, and that should tell you where the blown fuse is located. Locations and amperage can vary so be sure to check the number on the inside fuse panel.
Look for a small fuse puller located in the fuse box and carefully pull out the fuse you believe is the culprit. If it's blown, you will see small burn marks on the fuse. Compare it with a good fuse if you're not sure. When you've found the blown fuse, toss it and replace it with a good fuse with the same amperage. When the new fuse is in place, close the fuse box, start your Ford Explorer and see if the problem is solved. If not, we're ready to help.
